A psychoanalysis office in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. Ariane, a young surgeon, has been Philippe Dayan's patient for a year. After the attacks, she found herself on the front line in the hospital and had a nightmarish weekend. However, today, she is not there only for that: she finally feels ready to share a heavy secret with her therapist.

Dayan receives a new patient: Adel Chibane, police officer at the BRI. Adel was on the response team that entered the Bataclan on the evening of November 13. He has since had symptoms of stress that he cannot explain. He contacts Dayan, full of reservations and suspicion.

Camille, 16, is a young, high-performance swimmer training for the Olympic Games. She shows up at Dayan's office following a bicycle accident, both arms in a cast. Her insurance calls for a psychological expert testifying that she is not responsible for what happened to her.

Dayan is no expert in couples therapy, but he agreed to see Damien and Léonora, who have lived together for ten years. Recently, Léonora got pregnant after the couple had given up on having a second child. The crisis they are going through seems insurmountable. They expect Dayan to help them make a decision about this unborn child ... or to make it for them.

Dayan rings the doorbell of Esther, her mentor's former friend and widow. She has also been his analyst and controller, but Dayan has not seen her since the day he slammed the door in the middle of the session. But today he is ready to forget the old quarrels, desperate to find a new balance in his practice.

After having hesitated for a long time, Ariane finally accepted the marriage proposal of her companion Cédric. Dayan, who can't help but be confused, invites him to explore the reasons for this sudden turnaround.

Adel has returned. But no matter how much he learned about Dayan's skills, he was resistant to the principles of therapy. He wants to control everything, and yet the anxieties are there. Dayan gradually tries to gain his trust and find a way to reassure him.

Camille is on edge. She would like Dayan to write her report as soon as possible. Dayan makes her talk about her divorced parents, and her swimming coach with whom she has a special relationship.

After the tensions of the previous session, Damien and Léonora have found a certain bond. They decided to take some time for themselves and stop therapy. But an unforeseen event will change the order of things.

Philippe had an argument with his wife Charlotte, who confessed to him that she had a lover. Esther takes note, and directs him to a subject he seems to want to downplay: the ambiguity of his relationship with his patient Ariadne.

Ariane arrives late because of a cat affair, an excuse Dayan questions: is it to mask his resentment for being turned away, in the last session? Leaving their meeting, Ariane has a surprising encounter.

Unusually cheerful, Adel tells Dayan about his encounter with Ariane and takes the opportunity to ask her what he thinks of her. Inviting her to make the connection between his dysfunctional relationship and that of his parents, Dayan brings him back to his own torments. Troubled, the policeman tells him about a photo found at his father's house.

Camille seems worried that this third session will put an end to her meetings with Dayan. She talks about her parents' divorce and then makes important revelations about her relationship with Nicolas, her trainer. Dayan still refuses to comment on the premeditated nature or not of his accident, which annoys the young girl.

Léonora comes to the meeting alone. Dayan does not want to welcome her without her husband, but he listens to her all the same about her miscarriage. Damien, furious, finally arrives and violently takes Leonora to task. Shortly afterwards, Charlotte, Dayan's wife, makes an announcement to him that is not likely to please him.

Dayan is cranky, he has rather intimate medical problems. In bad faith, he accuses Esther of having badly advised him in the management of Ariane's transfer. The latter pointed out to him that he was under no obligation to follow her recommendations. Ariane may have awakened in him an old wound, which goes beyond the simple issue of desire and adultery.

After a disturbing daydream, Dayan, bruised, listens to Ariane tell him about her evening with Adel. The announcement of his break with Cédric creates a moment of bond between them, which leads the psychoanalyst to entrust his patient with part of his story. But Ariane receives a phone call which abruptly puts an end to their peaceful exchange.

Imagining Dayan's income, Adel is indignant at the modesty of his own salary, which he considers ridiculous given the risks of his job. After a very violent training, his anxieties reappeared during his evening with Ariane. Dayan thinks Ariadne is just a distraction for Adel, taking him away from the real issue. He is determined to understand what the photo found at his father's house crystallizes in him.

Camille arrives at the meeting free of her casts, but exhausted by her evening the night before. At a party, she let herself be seduced by a water polo player and retains a bitter taste. Unable to fall asleep, she remembers her accident and tells Dayan about it. He then discovers what she was hiding from him.

Léonora criticizes Damien for leaving their son Robin alone at home, but they rediscover their bond and remember their meeting. Until Damien accuses Leonora of cheating on him. A new, violent argument then begins, which marks a decisive turning point in their therapy.

Dayan tells Esther about his week. When he questions the prohibition on a sexual relationship between analyst and analysand, she loses her temper. Touched, Dayan criticizes him for not emotionally engaging with his patients, unlike him.

Ariane almost lost a 15-year-old patient injured in the Bataclan attacks. Devastated, she looks back on her own adolescence and makes important revelations about Serge, her father's friend who spent a summer with them. Ariane, obsessed with Dayan and convinced that she has put her patient's life in danger, sees no other solution than to stop the therapy.

Adel immediately announces that he has broken up with Ariane, convinced that she is being manipulated by Dayan. In a burst of anger, he also reveals to the analyst everything he has discovered about her: his daughter, his father in nursing home, his wife who is cheating on him ... Dayan manages to appease him and tries to help him. to remember Algeria.

Annoyed, Camille arrives at the office with her mother, whom she is trying to get rid of. The conversation with Dayan quickly turns to her father and the alleged connection between them. The latter made his daughter carry a heavy secret, which she could not handle well…

Léonora is alone. She accuses Dayan of changing Damien's behavior. He has grown too tender and kind for her liking, which pushes her into her lover's arms. Dayan, by questioning Léonora about her childhood, finds explanations for her self-destructive behavior.

Dayan and his wife arrive at Esther's house together. He tries to explain why he can't forgive his infidelity to Charlotte, but Esther calls him to order: he too longs for another woman. Charlotte, jealous and exhausted by her husband's endless analyzes, cuts the session short.

Ariane returns. She took Dayan's advice and spoke to her father about the behavior of Serge, the family friend, during his teenage years. Suddenly, Dayan confesses his feelings to her, but Ariane wonders if this is an analyst's strategy.

Adel, finally back, finally finds the courage to recount the traumatic event he experienced in Algeria as a child. As he advances in therapy considerably, he prepares to make a decision that Dayan no doubt self-destructs, who tries to alert him.

At Dayan, Camille collapses. She has canceled her visit to her father in Brussels, performed very poorly in training and cannot speak to her mother. Dayan calms her down and convinces her that she is angry with the wrong person. More serene, she rejoins her mother with whom she finds a certain complicity.

Damien arrives alone and relaxed, ready to do anything to save his marriage. Léonora, who was on the phone, joins the discussion and confesses her adultery. Damien's reaction is surprising. Léonora comes to speak of the death of her father, for which she feels responsible.

Following a death that upsets him, Dayan goes to the funeral. He finds Ariane there and confides in her his feeling of guilt. There he meets the relatives of the deceased, including his father, who, in his dismay, takes Ariane for Dayan's companion.

Liza, Dayan's daughter, is waiting for her father in his office: she is angry with him, is aware of the tensions that reign between her parents. The conversation is interrupted by Mohammed Chibane, Adel’s father, who comes to try to understand what prompted his son to consult. The conversation takes an accusing turn.

At his controller, Dayan immediately talks about Adel’s father's visit to his office and his guilt, idealizes this patient who has become a hero to him, and then becomes uneasy. Coming to his senses, Dayan attacks Esther until she loses her footing.

Camille's father is waiting for him in front of Dayan's office. Cold, she pushes him away but he ends up imposing himself to attend the session, where he tries to prove that he is a good father. Camille expresses all her anger at him at having felt abandoned.

Arriving alone, Damien explains to Dayan that they have decided with Leonora to separate and end their therapy. Léonora, who joins them, emphasizes that she considers it a failure. Dayan is trying to calm the situation down.

Dayan goes to Ariane. He confesses his feelings to her again, feels ready to have a story with her. Later, at Esther's, devastated, he recounts what happened between him and his patient.
