Lupe and Raya, a mother-daughter balikbayan move in to their grandma’s old house expecting to have a fresh start but the neighborhood proves to be unwelcoming because they’re known to be from a family of “mangkukulams” or witches. Unexpectedly, a troubled neighbor becomes a friend and it proves to be a pleasant surprise.

As mean neighbors oppose Raya and Lupe’s stay in the community, Chris – Raya’s tutee becomes more drawn to Raya because she makes him feel heard and seen. But the neighbors start to attack Raya and Lupe for they believe they are being cursed. Jess tells Chris to stay away from Raya.

Despite his own father’s disapproval, Chris takes Raya to a special place where both unwittingly fall enchanted. Jess confronts Lupe about the budding relationship and undeniable closeness of their children. However, Chris and Raya can’t resist the strong emotional connection between them.

The community’s disapproval instigated by a wicked and jealous neighbor reaches it’s peak when they are thrown out of an event. Raya feels that these people who believe lies are cursed, however, there is nothing much she can do about it until Chris decides that something needs to be done.

Chris discovers the whole truth about his mother and is further enlightened by his father’s confession. Exposing their cruel neighbor’s schemes also clears Lupe and Raya from allegations. All these events lead Chris back to Raya’s side, sorry for almost turning his back on her and admitting that he has fallen for her.
